Explore the Magick and Medicine of the West

This is the idea that started Queen of Swords and is still a core element that allows me to maintain consistent and meaningful relationships with the people I create for. My aim is to make the magick of plants accessible and understandable to everyone from seasoned herbalists to plant beginners. My belief is that folk medicine is a gift generations in the making, and a powerful medium for creating connection, meaning, and value in our lives. Working with plants is simultaneously a way inwards towards our most authentic and core selves, as well as an act of disruption and resistance to the pervasive disempowerment of capitalism and its extraction-based ethos that lacks animism, reciprocation, or reflection. It’s the art of slow living in lightning-fast times, taking a deep breath amongst all the noise, finding joy in the tiny moments amidst great uncertainty, building connection in times of loneliness, witnessing meaning when life feels out of control, and claiming empowerment and sovereignty against marginalization and disenfranchisement.

I’m committed to supporting your journey inwards and empowering you to heal, grow, and thrive through nurturing your relationship with place and plants to awaken the innate magic you already have. Together we will explore ways to care for mind, body, spirit, and heart by invoking the unique wisdom of PNW ecology as well as other biospheres in the West. Every plant has a story that is intertwined with our own and that relationship is part of the medicine. Each ingredient has its own story, its own life- and it contributes those qualities towards the creation of a unique item that can never be replicated. Learning, sharing, and understanding these stories can help us develop a stronger relationship with ourselves and our medicines.

We will experience the medicine of the in-between and all-around plants like hawthorn, dandelion, wild rose, California poppy, and mullein, the sun-drenched high desert’s ponderosas, sages, and junipers, the resilient wind and salt whipped coastal forests, the riparian magic of aspen, cottonwood, dogwood, and willow, the vitality of rich valley agricultural soils and apiaries, the tenacity of alpine forests, and the mythical, lush temperate rainforests teeming with every color of green imaginable.

Quarterly boxes will include a thoughtfully curated selection of handmade products that are made almost exclusively of ingredients I grow, forage, and produce myself- then formulated using folk methods informed by a combination of Western Herbal Medicine, Traditional Chinese Medicine, knowledge of the Indigenous peoples of North America, Ayurveda, and various modes of Pagan Witchcraft. My journey is to rekindle my own ancestral knowledge, which is being pieced together through a combination of ancestral research and imaginative interpretation to fill in the many gaps in my familial history. This is a combination of Saxon divination, Polish folk herbalism, Scottish traditional remedies, Ojibwe ethnobotany, and Slavic witchcraft, all of which I hope to center in my practice of herbalism moving forward.

You will receive a mixture of botanical beauty products, tinctures, spritzers, herbal incense, teas, bath goods, anointing oils, and the best of what each season has gifted us. Each quarterly box will include 7-8 items along with printed and online guides, which explain all of the items in the share with care tips, ingredients, use recommendations, and most of all, the stories of how it came to be and contemplations for the month. They are also known as Imbolc (February 1), Beltane (May 1), Lammas (August 1), and Samhain (November 1). Jump in at any point during the year!!

Our home is important. Home could mean our dwelling, our community, our bodies, our planet. In an effort to respect our home, goods will be packaged in compostable, recycled, or reusable materials. I also ship reusing boxes and packing materials that I have received. No single-use or plastic packaging. Ever. Thank you for supporting alternatives to single-use plastics.

If you’re interested in deepening your relationship with the plants of the PNW bioregion and utilizing them as a part of self-care or ritual practice, then this is the offering for you.
